Who are we? 

Fednot is the Federation of Belgian Notaries. Our mission is to support the +1100 notary offices and the ~8.000 notary's employees with legal expertise, management advise, IT solutions, training and information for the general public, etc. 

Fednot also develops and delivers software solutions and services to support the digital transformation process of the notary offices. These solutions cover all notary domains (real estate, enterprise, family, etc.) and are based on state-of-the art technologies. 

 

Job Summary: 

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize our organization's database systems. The DBA will ensure data integrity, security, availability, and performance across multiple platforms, supporting both development and production environments. 

The span of attention will cross from on-premise to the cloud. 

 

Your Role 

As a Database Administrator, you are responsible for the management, security, and optimization of our database environments. You collaborate with internal teams (Infrastructure, Cloud Platforms, Service Management) and external suppliers to ensure the continuity and performance of our data infrastructure. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Database Management: Install, configure, and maintain database systems (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS, MySQL Saas on GCP). 
  • Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize database performance, including indexing, query optimization, and resource allocation. 
  • Backup & Recovery: Implement and manage backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and data restoration procedures. 
  • Security: Ensure database security through access controls, encryption, and compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR). 
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, including outages, slow queries, and data inconsistencies. 
  • Automation & Scripting: Develop scripts for database maintenance, monitoring, and deployment tasks. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with developers, system administrators, and business analysts to support application development and data needs. 
  • Documentation: Maintain up-to-date documentation of database configurations, procedures, and policies. 
  • Suggest process improvements and implement innovations. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. 
  • Proven experience as a DBA or in a similar role. 
  • Strong knowledge of database systems (e.g., SQL Server, MySql).  
    PostgreSQL knowledge is a plus. 
  • Ability to setup a high-availability cluster on Microsoft servers and SQL instances. 
  • Proficiency in SQL and database scripting as well as Powershell. 
  • Familiarity with cloud-based databases (e.g., Azure SQL, MySql on GCP) is a plus. 
  • Understanding of data privacy regulations and best practices (GDPR). 
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. 

 

Your Profile: 

  • Experience with database monitoring tools (e.g., SpotLight, Redgate). 
  • Experienced with Jira, Confluence, Omnitracker. 
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines. 
  • Experience with data warehousing and ETL processes. 
  • Be a role model within and outside the team, promoting constructive collaboration. 
  • Proactive involvement in projects, including planning necessary adjustments.  
  • Customer satisfaction as a permanent objective.  
  • Work efficiently according to well-defined methods, with limited supervision. 
  • Besides you speak perfect French or Dutch, you have a good knowledge of English.
